What to Expect from Creation Justice Ministries
At Creation Justice Ministries, we believe in the transformative power of faith-rooted storytelling, theological education, and community-building. Whether preaching, facilitating Bible studies, or leading workshops, our staff and collaborators are honored to equip and inspire faith communities in their pursuit of justice for God’s people and planet. This guide outlines our suggested honorarium ranges to help you plan for meaningful engagements with CJM speakers. We recognize that each invitation is unique, and we’re happy to work with you to determine what’s feasible and appropriate for your setting.
Engagement Types
Preaching Engagements
A CJM staff member or collaborator delivers a sermon during a worship service, drawing on Scripture and theology to connect faith with justice for God’s creation. Messages are tailored to the context of your congregation and can align with the liturgical calendar or creation-focused observances like the Season of Creation.Examples: “Loving and Struggling with God’s Creation”, “Weathering the Storm”, "Plastic Jesus: Embodied Faith in a Synthetic World"

Bible Studies
A one-time or multi-session educational offering, typically held outside of the main worship hour. Sessions may include theological reflection, group discussion, and interactive elements to explore topics like climate justice, water access, sacred lands, or other creation-focused issues from a faith-based lens. Example: “Dust to Dust: Humanity’s Role in the Ecosystem of Grace”, “The Earth is the Lord’s: Sacred Responsibility in Scripture”, “Let Creation Testify: A Biblical Case for Environmental Justice”

Workshops may include strategy-building, storytelling, spiritual grounding, and facilitated dialogue. Suitable for conferences, retreats, or congregational gatherings. Examples: “Faith Rooted in Soil: A Theology of Creation and Action”,“Sanctuaries for a Changing Climate: Faith-Based Resilience Building”, “Mobilizing with the Spirit: Grassroots Justice in a Warming World” |
Keynotes/Lectures
Participation as a featured speaker or panelist at a conference or public event (typically 2-3 hours). CJM staff can offer theological reflection, policy expertise, or movement storytelling in conversation with other thought leaders and practitioners. Examples: “The Hope of Creation Justice”, “From Dominion to Discipleship: Reimagining Our Call to Creation”, “Prophetic Witness at the Water’s Edge: Faith & Federal Policy”

Pricing Information*Note that prices depend on length and speaking intensity, as well as the capacity of the organization. Additionally, travel and lodging fees will need to be covered. If your group is operating with a limited budget, please reach out. We’re happy to discuss cost-sharing, sliding scale options, or creative partnerships to make the engagement possible.
Understanding the Tiered Levels: We offer three standard rates: Full Cost, Sustaining, and Accessible. These levels reflect the diverse capacities of the communities we serve:

Travel, Accommodations, & Expense Guidelines
To ensure a smooth and respectful experience for both speakers and host organizations, we ask that the following arrangements be made when inviting CJM staff to speak in person:
- Travel Expenses Host organizations are responsible for covering reasonable travel costs. This includes round-trip coach airfare or train fare, local transportation (such as taxi, rideshare, or shuttle service), airport transfers, and meals while traveling.
- Lodging & Accommodations For overnight engagements, the host should provide hotel accommodations that include a private room, access to Wi-Fi, and proximity to the event venue. Whenever possible, lodging should be arranged and paid for directly by the host organization.
- Honorarium Payment Honoraria should be made payable to Creation Justice Ministries, not to individual staff members. Payment instructions will be provided upon confirmation of the engagement.
