Blue Theology: Outpost Interns

Are you a seminarian or college/graduate student interested in creation justice? Are you curious about the overlap between ocean conservation and theology? Creation Justice Ministries' Blue Theology outposts are recruiting interns for Summer 2023! 

What and Where is Blue Theology?
Blue Theology is a “place where current science in marine biology meets a theology of creation justice.” Blue Theology hosts youth groups for a week of learning and serving experiences in ocean conservation. Blue Theology has several locations across the country, each hosted by a coastal congregation. CJM's outposts are located in:
  • Texas City, TX
  • Newport Beach, CA
  • Beaufort, NC

Position Overview:
A summer internship with Blue Theology will include the following responsibilities:
  • Leading youth groups (mostly middle and high school students) as part of the Blue Theology summer program.
  • Working with a team to host groups, lead educational ocean experiences, and invite students into opportunities for spiritual growth.
  • Empower and encourage Blue Theology students to participate in ocean advocacy/creation justice within their own communities and congregations.
  • Other responsibilities may include writing, social media posts, photo/video documentation, and communication with Blue Theology partners.

Position Details:
This is a 6- to 12-week position with a mandatory in-person training held in May 2023 (date to be determined). 

Compensation: This internship role is $5000 for a full 12-week internship and/or this role can serve as a field education placement for school credit.
