GARDEN MINISTRIES

Throughout the United States, Christian communities are innovating ways to use church properties to nourish bodies and souls.

Initiatives such as the ELCA World Hunger program, Presbyterian Hunger Program, Going to the Garden program of the Church of the Brethren, the Black Church Food Security Network, and more are engaging in life-giving ministry that connects faith communities more deeply to God's lands and waters, while also meeting our neighbors' most basic needs.

Garden for Wildlife

The National Wildlife Federation offers great tips on how to make your home or church grounds wildlife-friendly. They even have a "Sacred Grounds" program for churches.
God's creation needs our help to thrive.

Christian Food Movement

Welcome to the Christian food movement.
The wider food movement has grown into a significant force in policy and culture over the past two decades. Christians have been quietly participating all along. But as more new ministries incorporating food and agriculture begin, the need has become urgent for us to find one another.

We need to learn from each other. We need to pray for each other. We need to listen together for what God would have us do.
That’s the purpose of this site. It is dedicated to the glory of God and the welfare of God’s creation. This site collects more than 200 links and resources at the intersection of Christian faith and sustainable agriculture.

Build habitat into your garden

Build a bat house. Many bats are endangered and in need of habitat. Bats provide natural mosquito control for your garden. The Organization for Bat Conservation offers instructions on how to install bat habitat on church and home property.
