Using Energy Wisely and Sustainably

FAITH AND ENERGY
We all use energy in our personal lives, work lives and faith lives. However, as individuals and a community we must work to diversify our energy use, transitioning to clean and sustainable energy such as wind and solar power in order to be good stewards of God's Creation. Our use of energy often comes at a cost to God's planet and people. The nation's dependence on fossil fuel based energy, such as coal, oil and natural gas, threatens the economy, public health, and security.

ABOUT OUR WORK
Creation Justice Ministries is working to help people of faith move to energy sources that help all people share in God's abundance without harming God's Creation, recognizing the different challenges that each community, state and region faces in both energy use and production. Our work includes greening churches to become more energy efficient or using emerging technologies such as smart grids. We also seek ways to improve current energy development practices used for natural gas, oil, and coal.

GET INVOLVED
  • Power your home with God's gift of wind. Act Now.
  • Want to make your House of Worship more energy efficient and lower your congregation's contribution to climate change? Follow steps in the Energy Stewardship Guide for Congregations.
  • Take the Energy Star Change a Light Pledge. If you replace a 75 watt incandescent light bulb with a 20 watt compact fluorescent light bulb, over its 10,000 hour lifespan you'll save $49 and the price of buying 13 incandescent light bulbs.
  • Find other resources to make your church and home more energy efficient, and find cleaner energy sources. Click here.
