Advocacy Spotlight: Take Action to Support the Clean Power Plan
In August 2015, the Administration released the Clean Power Plan, the largest scale coordinated effort our nation has ever tried to reduce carbon pollution, state by state. In Paris in December 2015, the U.S. climate negotiators presented U.S. greenhouse gas emission reduction goals that assumed compliance with the Clean Power Plan. In February 2016, the Supreme Court put a stay on the implementation of the Clean Power Plan, throwing our nation's biggest effort to abate climate change into disarray.
As people of faith living in a democracy, it is important to tell our elected officials what public policies support our values. Creation Justice Ministries released a statement supporting the Clean Power Plan, and we urge people of faith and conscience to encourage their governors and state legislators to support continued pursuit of the goals of the Clean Power Plan.
