Katerina Gonzales Faithful Resilience Program Director
Katerina Gonzales, PhD is the Faithful Resilience Program Director at Creation Justice Ministries. Dr. Gonzales is a climate resilience practitioner, scientist, writer, and eco-spiritual preacher whose work focuses on building community resilience at the intersection of climate and faith. Kat brings a unique combination of federal climate policy expertise, academic research skills, and grassroots organizing experience to her role at Creation Justice Ministries. Her approach to climate resilience is deeply rooted in community-based participatory methods, environmental justice principles, and cultivating partnerships.
Dr. Gonzales holds a Ph.D. in Earth System Science from Stanford University and a B.S. in Geophysics from Colorado School of Mines. She completed postgraduate work at University of Minnesota conducting participatory research with frontline municipal water utility workers. Her climate resilience work has been featured in media outlets including NPR, Scientific American, and ABC News, and her writing has appeared in Geez and Bay Nature Magazine. Kat is on the preaching team at New City Church in Minneapolis and serves on the board of Nu Foundation. In her free time, she can be found walking, cycling, swimming, or kayaking along Minneapolis’ many sacred waterways.
