TRUTH AND HEALING FELLOWSHIP
Creation Justice Ministries seeks to strengthen its conservation work in the context of the Truth and Healing Movement. We seek to engage in collaborative truth-telling about Christian institutions' history of involvement in colonial land theft, genocide, boarding schools that separated Indigenous children from their families, lynchings, and the enslavement of fellow human beings.
As a Christian organization, our truth-telling must articulate the enduring legacy of the Doctrine of Christian Discovery in theology, ministry practice, natural and cultural heritage sites, and conservation law. This truth-telling, as well as careful listening, will inform our healing ministry to protect, restore, and more rightly share God's creation in places designated as US public lands and waters.
For this initial project, we specifically seek to center narratives of Black and Indigenous peoples. As the State of California has established a Truth and Healing Council, a focus on California history will help us begin our work as churches. However, we expect the project to influence our work nationally.
