About Creation Justice Ministries
Creation Justice Ministries (CJM) is a national ecumenical organization representing the environmental justice policies of major Christian denominations across the United States. CJM equips faith leaders and congregations with theological grounding, advocacy tools, and leadership formation to protect and restore God’s creation |
Project Overview:
Creation Justice Courses Creation Justice Ministries is launching Creation Justice Courses, a new initiative offering accessible, high-quality online education in environmental justice through the lens of historically marginalized Christian traditions.
Despite growing awareness of the climate crisis in faith communities, there remain few accessible theological education spaces that center environmental justice through the lived experience, wisdom, and frameworks of BIPOC Christian traditions. Where eco-theological education exists, it is often financially inaccessible or shaped primarily by Eurocentric theological frameworks. This leaves a significant gap in justice-rooted formation for clergy, lay leaders, and everyday people of faith seeking theological grounding for ecological and social transformation. Creation Justice Courses seeks to address this gap by:
● Uplifting underrepresented theological voices such as EcoWomanism, liberation ecotheology, racial justice-informed creation care, and spiritual ecology
● Equipping faith-rooted leaders with tools for spiritual, ecological, and social transformation
● Building a financially sustainable model of justice-rooted theological education through sliding-scale registration and scholarship support
● Developing the core technical and operational infrastructure required for long-term growth
In Summer 2026, CJM will launch its first pilot short course, delivered live via Zoom with recordings available for asynchronous access. This pilot short course will serve as a structured implementation, evaluation, and iteration phase for the program’s technical systems, participant experience, and operational workflows. The goal of Summer 2026 is not simply to launch a course, but to test, assess, refine, and document a replicable model for future offerings.
The long-term vision is to expand Creation Justice Courses into a national hub for justice-rooted theological formation, offering multiple live and potentially asynchronous courses annually.
